Revolving Doors: Two Thirds of Brits Think UK Political Parties Are ‘Corrupt’

More than two thirds of Brits say that UK political parties are corrupt and 59% of UK citizens believe that the UK Government is “entirely” or “to a large extent” run by a few big entities acting in their own best interests, according to campaign group Transparency International, amid growing anger over MPs’ second jobs.

There was an outcry when former UK chancellor George Osborne was appointed to be editor of the London Evening Standard newspaper, while also remaining a member of parliament. He will be paid in the region of US$249,000 on top of his salary as an MP of US$92,000, as well as US$810,000 which he is paid for advising fund management giant BlackRock.
